WASSUP

It’s that unfortunate time of year when not a whole lot is going on. With the exception of our recent “Athletics” t-shirt release, things have been a bit quiet so I figured I would post a few things for everybody to checkout.

Much like the rest of the world, I’ve been getting down with A$AP Rocky. His rise in recent weeks has been reminiscent of Odd Future’s meteoric run last year…with one exception: the music is DOPE. Sorry Tyler fans, he admitted himself he was a one hit wonder.

Rocky isn’t anything too special lyrically but his throwback sound and impeccable beat selection make that easy to overlook. Hit this link for his video to “Wassup.” Other standout tracks on his recent release “Live.Love.A$AP” include Palace, Peso, and Trilla.

A couple weeks ago we got a great write-up about us on Cash & Clothes. As they put it, C&C is a “magazine with the intent to guide young men through the world of finance, fashion, and all things fresh.” They featured LGNDS in their New Brand Smell section, and the article was written by our friend Joe who also runs the brand Cannolis & Rosaries.
Lastly, for the past few weeks I’ve been working at an awesome print shop in Salem, MA – GORILLA. This has been a great experience so far and will benefit LGNDS just as much as it benefits me. For a limited time, Gorilla is running an awesome special on 1-color t-shirts. If you are interested in taking up this offer or have any questions, just call the shop or hit me up and we’ll make sure to help you out. Remember, no space on this site is for sale, so if I’m endorsing something like this, it’s legit!

“ATHLETICS” TEES NOW AVAILABLE

After teasing you over the past couple weeks with hints of this, the “Athletics” tees are finally in stock! Colorways include white print on a red t-shirt and black and red print on a white t-shirt. These shirts are a break from the more conservative pieces we’ve been releasing. They are inspired by the old-time boxing gyms found in Boston. Both are available now in our Online Store and soon to our retailers!

RETROSPECT

I read an article before the game about the half time show. The author wrote something along the lines of, “with nothing compelling about this Super Bowl, the halftime show better be good.” Nothing compelling? NOTHING compelling? How about the opportunity for the Brady-Belichick tandem to definitively go down as the greatest QB-coach tandem in league history? Or Brady potentially surpassing his boyhood hero, Joe Montana, for most playoff wins? How about sweet revenge on a Giants team that beat the undefeated Patriots 4 years ago? That opportunity has only come 4 or 5 times prior in the Super Bowl-era. Or what about the Pat’s 12th-(wo)man, Myra Kraft? Conversely, how about Eli proving the Giants are the only team in New Jersey that matters? I mean…New York…whoops. Or winning one more ring than his big brother Peyton? Or literally becoming Brady’s kryptonite? Nothing compelling….my God. You don’t even have to be a Patriots or Giants fan for this to be one of the most compelling Super Bowls ever.

So now, as the league hands Eli and his GMen the Lombardi trophy, I am here sitting alone in the dark typing away because I am unable to watch. I don’t think I’ve spoken a single word since the Pats ushered Bradshaw in for the TD that gave them back the ball.

I’m stuck on that safety call. While that was certainly intentional grounding, is that not a play that QBs get away with more often than not? I mean it was a 40 yard throw. But does that matter? Brady was going to get sacked regardless. The 12-men-on-the-field call? Amateur mistake. The Branch, Welker, Gronk, etc. dropped passes? Ugh.

I’ll try to reserve from sounding like your typical pundit that’s going to say we blew it and handed NY the game. They had their fair share of miscues as well. This ultimately was a battle between two very well matched teams and this game could have went either way. You knew it was going to be close.

I guess all I can do is put my musket between my legs and congratulate that big eared, Keebler elf looking Eli and the rest of his New York Giants. You won and there will be no 2 out of 3 on this series. Maybe a 3 out of 5 though? I’m staying optimistic.

For now, I’m going to go indulge in a couple sorrow-filled Scorpion Bowls and I plan to avoid SportCenter for the next 3 months. Mario Manningham became the new David Tyree tonight and I sure as well don’t want to watch that catch over and over again.

FEATURE PRESENTATION

Over the past couple weeks we’ve been fortunate to get a couple of great features on different fashion blogs. The most recent post comes from Avery over at YearOfTheTshirt.com. Year of the T-Shirt features a new t-shirt every day of the year. We’re up there with some great company – Avery has features from The Hundreds and The Quiet Life among others.A couple of days ago we got an awesome feature on OhSnapbacks.com. As you’d guess, Oh Snapbacks features the best snapbacks from across a very wide spectrum of brands. We’re also up there with some great company. The cool thing about this feature was that they never contacted me so I was left to find this one on my own while browsing the site.Lastly, is a t-shirt blog that is actually based out of the Boston area. TeeGazette.com blogs daily about all kinds of brands and t-shirts. They featured us in their Brand Spotlight section a couple of weeks ago. They are actually the reason I was linked up with Year of the T-Shirt. Small world!Thank you to everybody involved for giving LGNDS a spot on your site. We appreciate all the support! Contact me at ricky@shoplgnds.com with any other press inquiries.

REFRESH

For the past couple of weeks I’ve been blogging over at F5ToRefresh.com. I was going to try to explain what they are all about but I think their About Us page sums it up quite nicely:

“Ever meet one of those people that just seems to be all about the freshest gear? Every time they set foot outside, someone seems to be stopping to ask them, “Hey where can I get that?”

That’s the type of people we are, and we created this site as a way for us to share all the cool things we come across on our walk of life.

Our goal is to keep the flow of information as constant as possible and give our readers a glimpse of culture from around the world. We realize that every region, state, city and neighborhood has a unique approach to streetwear, sneakers, music, cars and life in general, and our goal is to shine a light on the uniqueness of urban culture and subcultures found around the world.”I try to keep this LGNDS blog focused on the brand. That includes new product releases, new retailers, events, etc. but my F5 blog has become a place for me to talk about all sorts of things beyond just LGNDS – from art and music to shoes and fashion.

I KNOW everybody has shopLGNDS.com in their bookmarks…it’s time to f5torefresh.com/lgnds as well!

MAKEOVER

The last version of the LGNDS site was a bit rushed as I had to put it together quick after the move back from Tucson. I finally took the time today to remodel a bit and update the site to better reflect the style of the brand moving forward. Hope you all enjoy! I’ll be tweaking over the coming weeks but please let me know if you notice anything working incorrectly or looking weird on your computer. Thanks!

DIRTBAGS

For the past couple weeks we’ve been working with an awesome crew out of Texas: Dirtbags. TreYett is at the helm managing a collective of Austin-area artists that range from the production and rap skills of CuttaMuzik to the powerful vocals of Dear Ashton.

All of these artists are extremely talented and their most recent release is no different. Qlee’s 1..2 Many Mornings is a 12-track mixtape that showcase’s the singer’s talents across the board. I’m not talking just another kid rapping or singing in a home studio – Qlee is the real deal and it wouldn’t surprise me to see him hitting the R&B charts sometime soon.

You can download the full mixtape now from DatPiff.com. Standout tracks include “Mysterious Girl” and “Ready.” Don’t sleep on Qlee or the rest of the Dirtbags crew! Here’s the visuals for “Ready:”

NEW RETAILER: ALBATROSS

The space in Salem that used to house the LGNDS retail store is now selling LGNDS products once again. The new shop on Pickering Wharf is called Albatross.Albatross is a break from the stores we typically sell out of which offers us a great opportunity to reach new customers and introduce them to the LGNDS brand. You won’t find Jordans or streetwear filling their shelves but you will find a great collection of casual clothing and accessories for both men and women. We got them stocked up on LGNDS crewnecks, beanies, and snapbacks. Definitely stop in if you’re in the area and show them some love. They are in the exact location of the old LGNDS store…how cool is that?
